Update – Landlords and Tenants

Landlords and tenants: the Royal Court and Petty Debts Court of Jersey issued a Practice Direction yesterday concerning tenancy disputes arising during the Covid-19 period. The Practice Direction states that the Courts “will have regard” to the guidance previously issued by the Government in relation to landlords and tenants of residential and commercial property. Whilst the Practice Direction confirms that the “parties’ legal obligations to each other are not varied by the guidance”, it does state that the Courts will take into account non-compliance with the guidance “when considering what relief to give”.
