Credit Controller / Accounts Administrator
Reports to: Accounts Manager
Purpose of Position: To assist the Accounts Manager with the efficient day to day running of the Accounts Department ensuring tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Principal Accountabilities
Credit Control
- Reviewing the debtors list on a daily basis and sending out reminders to the firm’s clients after 14 days.
- Monitoring on a daily basis the firm’s position with regard to payments and debtors.
- Sending out further reminders to the firm’s debtors and dealing with any queries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Discussing and agreeing repayment agreements with the firm’s debtors and/or third party agencies.
- Achieving settlement of overdue accounts by way of telephone / fax / e-mail contact and regular production of overdue reminder letters.
- Reviewing VG matters and monitoring payments under the firm’s agreement with VG.
- Liasing with appointed debt collection companies regarding recovery of the firm’s debt.
- Reviewing debtors listing and making provisions for any debts that are over 12 months old that are unlikely to be recovered.
- Forecasting of expected income from debtors for cash flow forecasting when required.
- To be proficient, methodical and continually consider and initiate improvements to collection procedures, workflow and Voisin services, which will increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Accounts Assistant
- Assisting the Accounts Manager where necessary with the day-to-day running of the Accounts Department.
- Providing cover for the department when the Accounts Manager is away from the office on leave and/or business.
- Providing breakdowns (as and when required) in the form of Excel spreadsheets to fee earners and/or clients to accompany the firm’s fee notes.
- Various ad hoc duties as and when requested by the Accounts Manager and when the Accounts Assistant is absent from the office. These ad hoc duties will include purchase ledger, opening new client matters, archiving closed matters and time inputting.

Role Summary: We are seeking a talented lawyer to join our Corporate & Commercial Team. As the oldest law firm in Jersey, we have well-established practices in the corporate and commercial areas of law, advising institutional and private clients as well as professional intermediaries.
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will give our clients clear and focused advice and will be expected to both lead the management of files and work with the wider team on larger-scale transactions. The candidate will also play a material role in our business- development activities. In particular, the candidate will need to:
- take responsibility for managing files and transactions, including resolving issues that arise during transactions
- demonstrate initiative in identifying key issues
- work collaboratively with other members of the team
- accept assignments delegated from Partners and report efficiently to the Partners as required
- give technically accurate advice to clients
- demonstrate good commercial awareness relevant to our clients’ differing objectives and needs
- work in compliance with the firm’s procedures, including (without limitation) anti-money laundering rules and prompt and accurate time-recording

Key responsibilities: The successful candidate will give our clients clear and focused advice and will be expected to both lead the management of files and work with the wider teams on larger-scale transactions. The candidate will also play a material role in our business- development activities. In particular, the candidate will need to:
- draft and review commercial leases
- draft and advise on property finance documentation
- assist with matters in relation to commercial acquisitions and disposals
- take responsibility for managing files and transactions, including resolving issues that arise during transactions
- demonstrate initiative in identifying key issues
- work collaboratively with other members of the teams
- accept assignments delegated from Partners and report efficiently to the Partners as required
- give technically accurate advice to clients
- demonstrate good commercial awareness relevant to our clients’ differing objectives and needs
- work in compliance with the firm’s procedures, including (without limitation) anti-money laundering rules and prompt and accurate time-recording
- communicate clearly and efficiently with clients on all aspects of a matter, particularly with regard to the scope of work, the anticipated costs and disbursements, progress during the matter and any issues that arise (or may arise)
